A Moving Contest

We are moving this month! It's been a long time coming and a short time happening.  Crazy times! But of course I still want to give free stuff away this month so here is the contest:

If you could move to any of Brandon's Worlds, which one would you move to and why?

Simply comment to this post and you're entered in to win prizes!  I have 2 Kaladin shirts and 2 button packs to give away. Winners will be chosen randomly this month, unless there's a comment I just can't pass up.  :)

Contest will be from 4/18-4/22.  Winners announced 4/25.

Good Luck!

  1. Hmmm...

If I could pick any world it would have to be Shadesmar (that is if you consider Shadesmar it's own world considering it's kind of a world within multiple rules, at least we so believe.) That way I could travel between any of the worlds he has created. I know this is based off of a lot of assumptions on how the magic system works but meh.

If you can't count Shadesmar it would have to be Yolen (Dragonsteel and Liar) because that's where we can hope to get more information on Hoid. :D

  2. I'd have to go with Inner Libraria. For one, I wouldn't really have to move at all, thus negating a lot of moving heavy items. And second, the thought of meeting an Evil Librarian at the Public Library just seems awesome.

  3. I would love to go to Roshar. It would be great exploring all the different types of landscapes and whatnot. The highstorms would suck, but kinda cool, at least at first.

  5. Hi! I hope all goes well with the moving!
I would choose Elantris to live in, simply because it's a world where you get a piece of heaven in your everyday life, you feel there is a bit of God living next to you and you can just go and ask for help - so much needed in our days.
    All the best, Emilia.

  6. Scadrial for me. I would love to meet Vin and Sazed in person. Kelsier too. Being a Mistborn would be an added bonus.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'd move to the shining city of Elantris (post-restoration of course.) Since there hasn't been a sequel, obviously everyone there is living happily ever after.

  8. The question has two competing answers, which depend on a critical assumption.

If the move brings the inherent ability to use the magic of the world, it's the Mistborn world - I love the sneaky/acrobatic abilities of a Mistborn.

If the move doesn't bring an inherent ability to use the world's magic, than it would have to be Hallandren - a beautiful place which still holds the possibility of gaining the ability to awaken.

At this point, the world of the Stormlight Archive could be a fascinating place to visit, but it seems a bit violent for my taste in permanent residence (though, that may be because TWoK's focus on the Shattered Plains) and I'd probably qualify as a Darkeyes, which would be unfortunate.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would move to the mistborn world so that I might have a chance at allomancy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'd want to live on Scadriel if I could have Allomancy! That'd be pretty fun. Otherwise, Inner Libraria.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Roshar because certain parts of that world sound absolutely beautiful! I would also love to get a chance to encounter some amazing spren!

    ReplyDelete
  12. If living in Elantris means I get to be a god, then I'm up for that!
Otherwise, I would love to see Roshar (even as a Darkeyes).

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would go live in the Peaks, so I'm not an airsick lowlander!, and I would also have a pet honorspren... :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would go to Shadesmar; I'm really curious about it because we only got a glimpse in The Way of Kings, yet it got its own map on the inside of the cover so it must be cool. Also, it has a cool name. And I could hang out with my favorite character, Shallan.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Nalthis. Because as an artist, of course I want to go to the world where art and magic are closely linked. ;) Plus, anyone can learn to use BioChroma, so I wouldn't be kept out of the club by being born elsewhere without some magical gene of super power having.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't have to move anywhere. I'm a librarian, and I'm all powerful. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I would defiantly go to Roshar, even though it appears that in the near future the world will be in utter chaos. If I couldn't win a Shardblade (and w/o dying)I would make my way to the Purelake and live it up with Ishikk.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would live on Roshar. The Purelake sounds like a wonderful place to live. The people's customs and habits would provide an amazing anthropological environment to study while enjoying myself at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would definitely have to visit all worlds before deciding on one to live in. I'm not sure I could choose without first hand knowledge. I would start off by visiting Elantris though =).

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, lets look at our options, shall we?

Sel: Elantrians have become zombies, the economy is falling apart, and invasion by Wyrn is imminent. So, no.

Scadrial: Ash falling from the sky, lorded over by an immortal tyrant. Are you kidding?

    Roshar: HIGHSTORMS.

Nalthis: Tropical paradise, highly wealthy civilization, slightly imbalanced but overall benevolent Returned rulers. Yeah, I think I'll go with this one. Though the lack of indoor plumbing is...disturbing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nalthis or Scadriel post-HoA because those are the two worlds that don't have hostile Shards or minions thereof running around.

Roshar is tempting cause of the cool wildlife, but I have dark brown eyes, so I'd be a second class citizen at best throughout a large part of the world. And probably end up dead for telling a pompous aristocrat where he could shove it. Also homicidal maniac Shard.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Roshar for sure, I would just follow Kaladin around because he's "Storm Blessed" lol

    ReplyDelete
  23. I kinda would like to move to Mochea it would be cool to see all those flowers, but then again i would probably get sick of the smell. Flowers are pretty and all but they do smell weird. So maybe the pure lake, I don't think water smells weird.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would love to live in Elantris. Who wouldn't want to have silvery hair and act like a god?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yolen. I don't want to go into why I want to live there too much, spoilers and such, but lets just say I'd give Hoid a piece of my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would choose Alethkar because then I could serve under Dalinar, one of my all time favorite characters. I wouldn't mind being a scribe there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'd move to Roshar and beg Kaladin to let me become his secret apprentice.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would have to choose Roshar.
While living in Scadrial would be interesting, the possibility of benefitting from being a Misting or Mistborn depends highly on luck and heritage, and considering my luck is poor I would simply be there as a witness.

Living in Arelon would give me an opportunity to become an Elantrian, but once again mainly dependent on luck unless I knew of other ways to harness the dor.

In Roshar anyone can rise to standing given the oppurtunity. Indeed surviving the Highstorms probably wouldn't be fun, but being able to participate in the actions of the world, even without being explicitly gifted, or noble birth, would be incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Though most are tempting, I think I'd logically like to live in the Warebreaker world. The worlds of Elantris, Mistborn, and Stormlight are a bit too violent and intimidating to me - read: I don't want to die right off the bat. In the world of Warbreaker, even a couple extra Breadths could enhance my everyday enjoyment of the world - that extra bump in sensory enhancement would be pretty sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'd have to go with Roshar. Reasoning? I have blue eyes and would therefore live a life of luxury and ease.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would move to Roshar so that I could grow out my eyebrows. SO COOL!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Part of me wants to say Scadrial, because Allomancy intrigues me so very much. I wouldn't even need to be a Mistborn--I'd happily just be friends with anyone who could do anything so I could study it.

And I would love to live in Roshar because their history is so rich I'd die a happy woman to research all the live long days with Jasnah...

But I think I'd enjoy Hallendren the most because it sounds so bloody pretty. Plus the chance to come back as a God (er I mean Returned...) has a certain appeal. Cause well I could get even more studying done...(do you see a trend here?).

  33. I would love to be a Mistborn and burn Atium. This is my world of choice.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would choose Roshar, because to the best of my knowledge I do not possess any sort of magic. In Roshar, I can join an army and if I'm lucky I could get a shardblade.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I would totally live in Inner Libraria. Because I love me some technology (regardless of Bastille always saying our technology is primitive). Plus none of the other worlds have flush toilets and a world's bathroom/sewer system is how I judge if I want to live there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would totally choose Randland. Granted it's not his universe per se, but he is still writing in it, and it is a good part his to finish.

Barring that, the world of Elantris would be kickass, too. I want a seon !

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would totally live in the Free Kingdoms. I'd get to be as eccentric as I want, a decent chance at being able to use Occulatory lenses in my glasses, and getting to wear tunics all the time.

Oh, and did I mention being able to fly in GIANT GLASS DRAGONS?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would like to move to in the world of Mistborn whether I got Allomancy or not. I love the grim nature of the world and the challenge to make it better.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Roshar, most definitely. The world is insanely diverse and amazing. :D

    ReplyDelete
  40. Scadrial, easy! I'll take it one step further and assume I'm a Mistborn as well!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Roshar - where blue eyes rule!

(Plus...there are a larger number of very different countries/regions.)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Well I will pick Roshar, but in the unknown west were the storms are less high.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If I were likely to become a "main character" I would choose Scadrial, because then I could fly.

Unfortunately, I'm not really likely to end up a viewpoint character, so I'll have to choose Opelon. I would travel the world, studying languages, Aons, and how to use Aon-type glyphs to channel the Dor in non-Aonic countries.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Roshar would be the most awesome, and a world the most different from our own. But I think I'd choose the world of Elantris, simply because the magic is something that can be studied, and skill is determined by how well one does it. I feel like once the magical system was restored that this would be a pretty awesome place to live.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Scadrial would be awesome if I could do allomancy, but then again, I have blue eyes, so I would probably go with Roshar!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I would live in Alloy of Law-era Scadrial. The best of both worlds -- indoor plumbing AND magic.

    ReplyDelete
  47. For my internal debate I assumed that I would also receive the full magical potential that came with the move. So that lead me to wonder...

Could a full Mistborn defeat a warrior with both Shardplate and Shardblade? That would be one epic dual!

And which opponent would I prefer to be...

My initial thought is that I would love to wield a Shardblade, but the truth is I don't know how to defeat an Allomancer with Atium!?

However, I keep thinking back to Roshar and its Shardblade-wielding fighters. Personally, I think I would prefer to charge into battle like a tank at the head of my army, than to use the more stealthy approach employed by Allomancy.

  48. To be honest, I didn't give much attention to the name of the Warbreaker world, but as it was my intro to Sanderson's writing, I have to say it was pretty sweet. Plus, the magic there is probably one of the most unique I'd ever read and it was accessible to everyone, so hey, peace...equality-ish...sacrificial flawed beings...what's not to love?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Definitely Scadrial, before the events of The Final Empire. It remains one of the most interesting settings I have ever come across in a fantasy world and I think it would be incredible to see the ash falling from the sky, brown plants etc. Hell of a trip.

    ReplyDelete
  50. PS. Sorry to post again, but looks like my identity isn't clear in the above post (April 20, 2011 10:43 PM).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Since alloy of law isn't out yet, I can't know that much about it yet, but that era of Scadrial does sound like an awesome place to see. Wild west, allomantic steampunkiness can only be amazing. And who knows, maybe Vin is still around...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Presuming I could also pick to be a Misborn, I'd live in Scadrieal.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah, I've got to go with Purelake. How could I resist a place that is described as "life itself"?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'd want to live in Roshar, especially at the Purelake. It fascinates me and seems to be the most calm, relaxing, happy place a person could live.

My second choice would be Hallandren.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Take me to the world of Scadrial. I would love to live in the world where I could see heroes like Vin, Elend, and Sazed truly change things for the better. A world where people sacrifice for each other. It would be nice to be one of those that could help through Mistborn powers too.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I wouldn't want to be a librarian but I'd love to see their maps of the world to see all of the countries we're missing. My kids are big fans of Kaladin and would be proud to be members of his crew.

  59. I would love to move to the world of warbreaker.. I love colors and its the most colorful, fun and vibrant book from Brandon..

I would love to be an artist well versed with the artisan's script and paint using different colors with different sounds to make my paintings literally /Sing/ :)

Thank you so much for this chance..

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'd have to say I'd move to Roshar, I find it to be the most intriguing at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Definitely Nalthis where colors and sounds can be enhanced and appreciated even more. also i would have a slight chance of being able to wield Nightblood and get killed by it.
    >:D

  65. Tough decision. I'd probably shoot for a citizen of Elantris - the magic there is the closest to the types of magic I like.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Scadrial because being a mist born would just be cool.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I would go to the Terris Dominance (as established in the logbook that Vin takes from Kredik Shaw)so that I could build a really BIG indestructible Well of Ascension cover that is element-proof, bulletproof, etc. That way, Ruin would never be able to escape and the realms would still have sunlight, trees, clear skies, grass, and most importantly, flowers. I would also go back in time just to punch the mortal man who later became the Lord Ruler.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm sorry, I wanted to post a bit more to my comment. Here it is. If I win, my email is harrisona@centenarycollege.edu. Thank you!

I would also go back in time just to punch the mortal man who later became the Lord Ruler because he comes across like a whiny ten-year-old even though he claimed he was the "hero." He kills Kelsier. I actually very much liked Kelsier. When I got to that point in the book, I bawled, literally bawled. So, he has given me enough reason to deck him completely.

  69. Roshar.
Highstorm = awesome hang gliding potentials!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Another vote for Roshar. I can easily imagine dedicating my life to the pursuit and documentation of the multitude of Spren around that world.
While I would probably be a conscientious objector to the caste system in general, I'd thankfully be on the light side of the divide, which would help.
Add to the above the fact that there is a veritable hat-full of magic systems; I'd probably have a greater chance of meeting some kind of criteria for them. Overall Roshar is probably the most beautiful [if war-torn] of Brandon's worlds, in my opinion. Without question; Roshar.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hallendren, on Nalthis. Love the idea of it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It would have to be Purelake. That place just seems like pure bliss :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. The Plains of Shinovar on Roshar would have to be the place for me. Just seems like a peaceful way of life.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'd pick Roshar. Light colored eyes + Being a girl + Being a writer = pretty sweet life on Roshar, I should think. I'd probably want to camp out near the Palanaeum, because an enormous library sounds right up my alley. The one issue I would probably have is how much I love Shardblades. Once I managed to acquire mine (I think I'm gonna take Sadeas') I'd have to keep mine hidden, like Shallan does...

    ReplyDelete
  75. a larger part of me wants to say Sel, to be able to visit the wondrous city of Elantris... but the Artist in me can't help but outweigh that desire and make me say Nalthis for the chance to get more breaths and experience the beauties of an enhanced colorful world.

  76. As a Voidbringer, the shattered plains allows for a great variety of prey and lots of strife to roam in.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would move to Roshar. No doubt about it because that's where Kaladin is. He is sharding AWESOME and honestly because its the world where a ten book story is taking place we'll get a lot more detail about the planet and have plenty of other characters to meet. The highstorms would also be awesome (provided they don't kill me) because I love being in the rain.

    email: kiwi.wright@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  78. I would have to go to Hallandren. I view all the other worlds as more interesting, but Hallandren seems the most stable. It's also very bright and in a way carefree.

Not to mention the fact that anyone can have the "special power" there or that you could essentially become a god (of sorts).

Plus if I died, I could totally chill with Lightsong.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Scadrial, hands down. The pulling and pushing and flying without really flying-- so cool. I definitely want to be Mistborn. But not a part of the Great Houses so half-skaa, like Vin.

  80. We would move to Roshar, we just finished a 3000 mile drive and added extra detours to ensure we could finish the entire audiobook! and we are still having visions of this book in our heads Storm it!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Scadrial, maybe. I love the magic system.

Or Roshar. Surgebinding sounds awesome, but they also have Dalinar and Kaladin.

But Scadrial had Elend and Vin...

Is there a place in between? Or can I just hop around with Hoid?
