First, let me apologize for not having a contest in January. I was recovering from the holidays, sick, and taking care of sick children. But, this month's contest will make up for it cuz we have new shirt designs!
Comment below on which design you love the most (and why, if you want.) Please vote! This helps us determine which shirt we'll print up next.

#2 |

#3A |

#3B (different back/same front!) |
These shirts were designed by Ben McSweeney and Isaac.
I will be keeping track of the answers and whichever design gets the most votes, we'll print it up for everyone to enjoy. I will pick 3 random participants and they will have their choice of shirt- new or old design!
Winners announced: Monday, February 27, 2012.
I like 3B. It's hilarious. Also, It's been a while since I read the book and I'm not getting the "Wearing Your Mom" reference. Could someone explain?
ReplyDeleteAlso, my birthday was this weekend so you should pick me.
Kaladin and co. wear parshendi bones as armor, as a means to get their goat and have the arrows not be aimed at the bridge bearers.
DeleteAnd I love the number 2 shirt idea!
My favorite is the first one. It's the simplest, but the most effective, I think. It would also be the easiest to read at a distance. So the people carrying Bridge 5 can clearly identify who they're running beside.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the first one is the most effective!
DeleteMy vote goes for the Horneater Stew shirt! It's fan flippin' Tastic!
ReplyDelete#1 I like it because of its simplicity.
ReplyDelete#3B looks good!
ReplyDelete#1 and #3B, I personally would like to have both. #1 is simple but still makes the statement and #3B lets you enjoy the humor.
ReplyDelete3B
ReplyDelete3B definitely
ReplyDeleteI love 3B!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2, for sure; it's hillarious!! My husband and I were both laughing out loud when we read it! :)
ReplyDeleteI like number 2 or 3b the best. I think I prefer 2 though. Difficult decision.
ReplyDelete1 and 3B, but gonna have to go with 3B, final answer!
ReplyDeleteI like 3B the best. The Horneater Stew reference is too good to pass up.
ReplyDeleteI like 3B.
ReplyDelete2: "I'm wearing your mom" sounds juvenile, especially for those who haven't read the book.
#3 B is my vote! I also love #1.
ReplyDelete#3b is the best.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete#2. "I'm wearing your Mom." Can't . . .. stop . . . .laughing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove 3 and 3B
ReplyDeleteI like 3B but I think 3A is better. Brevity is the soul of wit!
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 is my first choice. Like others have said, I like the simplicity.
ReplyDelete#2 for sure. It's hilarious :)
ReplyDelete#3B.
ReplyDeleteI would buy that in a second.
Bahahaha.
I think I like 3A most but 3B is a close second. That said 2 is the only one that I wouldn't purchase. That said when will they be available?
ReplyDeleteI'm in 100% agreement with jeffery - 3B is good, 3A is better.
ReplyDeleteI vote for 3A
ReplyDeleteI like 3B--Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI vote for 3A
ReplyDelete3A and 3B are both really great, 1 is practical and simple, and 2 is hilarious if you get the reference. If more people read these books, I would go for 2. Unfortunately, it might have the same effect it had on the Parshendi, so I'm gonna have to go with 3B.
ReplyDeleteI vote 3A! Just soup? I WAS ROBBED. Which makes sense, since I was a robber...
ReplyDeleteI really like #3A. #3B is also cool, but not as awesome as #3A, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI like #2 as a visual design but 3A definitely has the better joke.
ReplyDelete#1, simple
ReplyDeleteI like number 1 and 3B.
ReplyDeleteI love 2 and 3 with the optional B back.
ReplyDeleteCan i vote for 1, 2 and 3b? If I had to choose one it would be 3b I think. 2 is probably the most hilarious but the most difficult to understand.
ReplyDelete#1 is the best. Keep it simple, InkWing =)
ReplyDeleteI love #1 the best. It's simple and cool.
ReplyDeletebut 3B over 3A. more creative i think
#3A, definitely. A little more complex than 1 (second choice) but the humor is what gets me. Plus I really like the arrows.
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity of #1, that's my favorite. 3B would be my second choice.
ReplyDelete3B, definitely. I'd eat that Horneater stew, even if he does put rocks in it.
ReplyDeleteNo, wait. I'm not anonymous. This is me right here.
Delete#3A
ReplyDeleteAnd now I want soup.

ReplyDeleteI like 3B the best. It and 3A are the only ones I could see myself buying.
ReplyDeleteI like #1 because it looks like a shirt I would wear more often.
ReplyDelete#1 is my vote.
ReplyDelete(I would also wear 3A or 3B, though)
2 is the funniest (but I wouldn't wear it)
my vote is for 3A, I also really like #1... but it's just too... obscure.
ReplyDelete#1, simple and wearable :)
ReplyDelete#1
ReplyDelete3b - horneater stew yum lol
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking #3b. They are all amazing though :)
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity of #1, but I also like #3B. It's clever and funny.
ReplyDelete3B
ReplyDeleteI find #2 absolutely hilarious. But my vote is for 3B. It would be what I would be daring enough to wear.
ReplyDelete#1's simple, effective, and stylish. Good for the crowd who likes seeing if other people are 'in' on the books, but not enough to weird unfortunate non-nerds out. #3A is solid, too; #3B feels like a bit too much of an info dump, though.
ReplyDelete3A without a doubt! It is very clever without having too much information.
ReplyDeleteI think that 1 is the best.... there really isn't one that I love tho :/
ReplyDeleteI think that 1 is the best.... there really isn't one that I love tho :/
ReplyDelete3B. Definitely.
ReplyDelete3B!
ReplyDelete#3A Definately. Simpleand funny but still not too much info.
ReplyDelete#2 for the win!
ReplyDelete#2. DEFINITELY #2.
ReplyDeleteI love 3B! The horneater stew made life bearable for the runners and gave them something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteI definitely like 1 the most. I don't like jokes and stuff on my shirts. The design looks good, and only someone who has read the book would even know it was an inside joke. It wins in my book.
ReplyDeleteJames
Love 3b because people will ask "What is Horneater stew?" and I can then gush about how great "The Way of Kings" is.
ReplyDelete3B gets my vote.
ReplyDelete3B all the way! Although I would eliminate the word "this"
ReplyDeleteKinda surprised there wasn't a shirt with "I survived Bridge 4 and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" shirt.
3b all the way!
ReplyDelete3b all the way!
ReplyDeleteI prefer 3A...
ReplyDelete...but I'd also buy 1 or 3B.
2 is hilarious if you're already familiar with the book, but since I couldn't wear it in a work/school environment I'd opt for one of the other designs.
I like 3B; its got humor, but you have to be a bit of a nerd to get it.
ReplyDeleteI vote #1.
ReplyDeleteI love love love #2, but #1 is the one I'd actually want to wear. Any chance of a print of #2 for my study?
I vote 3A. While 3B seems more relevant at first glance, I think 3A would be what a Bridge 4 new recruit would think.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #2.
ReplyDeleteI vote for number 1, it's simple and not many will get the reference, but once they do, it's party time! :)
ReplyDelete3A is obviously the best since it's simple, to the point, and hilarious :)!
ReplyDeleteI like the first one that just says "Bridge 4!" It is the one I would definitely buy if I had a choice!
ReplyDeleteI vote for 3/3B. Though I also really like 2, I'd be more likely to wear 3.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to say that I am thrilled to find other fans. :)
DEFINITELY one of the 3's. Either one is great.
ReplyDelete#3A. Short and to the point.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely #3B!
ReplyDelete3A or 3B. Either way, totally awesome.
ReplyDelete#3A is pretty good. the front side is encouraging while the back side is sarcastic. Kida fits the book
ReplyDelete#3A is hillarious. I like it better than 3B. I think the art is also very clever.
ReplyDeleteI also like #1 because of its simplicity. I'd wear that. I think you should considering making both designs.
I like 3B brought me right back into the books.
ReplyDeleteI like #1 best, and my husband likes #3b best. Can we cast two votes in one comment? Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDelete#3B is best.
ReplyDelete3A ALL THE WAY!!! All of them are great, but alas, 3A is the best. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a really tough choice! I think I would buy and wear #1 and also buy #3B for my husband to wear. Any chance you could print more than one design? Also, does anyone think it would work/look cool to have a shirt that has a design that makes you look like you're wearing a Mist cloak? Just a thought, I have no idea if that would work though.
ReplyDeleteRachel
#3A with #2 being a close second. I WANT ONE.
ReplyDeleteI like #1 for its simple yet effective feel. However my vote is for 3b, as it is more appealing in its sarcasm and content.
ReplyDeleteNathaniel
I vote for design 1. I can wear it anywhere!!
ReplyDeleteOf the 4 designs, I would wear #1. Simple, to the point, and a decent conversation piece (since it doesn't go out of its way to explain itself).
ReplyDeleteDesign #2 is not my style of attitude, and #3A and #3B employ a rather overused humor device. (Plus, I'm not a fan of split front-and-back messages.)
Admittedly, I shouldn't complain about overused humor devices, because I would totally wear a T-shirt that says, "I USED TO RUN WITH BRIDGE 4. THEN I TOOK AN ARROW IN THE KNEE."
That would be the most wonderful crossover t-shirt EVER.
DeleteThree Bee!!!1!
ReplyDelete3B, but I do like the "I wore your mom". Take that Parshendi.
ReplyDeleteSorry. "I'm wearing".
DeleteI vote for Horneater stew.
ReplyDeleteI vote for 3B!
ReplyDelete3B is awesome!
ReplyDelete3a. Keeping it short and fun with 'soup' is better than 'horn eater stew'
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between 1 and 3A. I like the simplicity of 1, but 3A is quite funny (the arrows look cool too, by the way).
ReplyDeleteIt all comes down to whether you're looking for a subtle reference or if you want a shirt that just begs people to ask about whatever inside joke it's referring to.
As to the 3A vs 3B discussion, I feel that 3B gains very little when it adds the specificity of Horneater stew while increasing the non-nerd repelling factor significantly and adding a measurable amount of words to what is already a perfectly serviceable joke.
In the end, I think I would buy either 1 or 3A, with a slight preference for 1, but I'm on the fence about 3B.
#1. I like the simplicity. And it will still get folks to ask about Bridge 4.
ReplyDeleteI'd say do 3 but allow both back options. If that's not possible then 3a. 2 will come off as juvenile to people that haven't read the series. And 1 is to simple to me.
ReplyDelete1 -- it is the only one I'd be able to wear in public.
ReplyDeleteI loved #3A the best! #1 was just a little simple, and I would never wear #2 because no one would get it, and I'm not the sort of person to wear skulls on my shirts. #3 is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI like #2
ReplyDelete3A for sure. Also wasn't there a shirt with just the sword glyphs before, or am I imagining it? I'd like another chance to pick up one of those...
ReplyDeleteAdd another vote for 3A.
ReplyDeleteI have to choose? Well, 1 is nice and simple, but 3 is so funny... I'd buy either.
ReplyDelete3A has my vote!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely 3B. #1 is a bit plain; and unless you look closer at #2, all you'll see is a skull and bones...maybe if it was a bright parshendi red i'd wear it :p
ReplyDeleteI like #1 the best. Mostly because it is nice and simple.
ReplyDelete#1, definitely. Simple and clean and possibly even a conversation starter. I'd like #2 a lot more with a different slogan in the outer ring. I'd like the #3s better without the words.
ReplyDelete3A is hysterical... and it flows nicer to say soup rather than the horneater soup....
ReplyDelete#1 - I like the simplicity.
ReplyDelete3b plz and thanks
ReplyDeleteI like 3, especially 3b. It is probably the least ambiguous out of all the t-shirt designs.
ReplyDeleteI really do not like design 2. Even in the book, the action that is being referenced is treated as a macabre and generally wrong. (The only reason it is not evil is the because of the desperate situation of the characters.) Out of context, it just to be in bad taste.
I'm in yer house wearin yer Mommeh!
ReplyDeleteMy wife and prefer the first one, nice and simple.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and prefer the first one, nice and simple.
ReplyDeleteI like 3B the best.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh 3B is amazing! My vote is totally for that one!
ReplyDelete3A.
ReplyDelete3b...very classy and nice colors!
ReplyDelete#2 is not bad taste, but gut-busting hilarious. #2 please!
ReplyDeleteI think #1 states it the best. Simple and to the point. Something that can be worn without the need to explain.
ReplyDelete#2, then #3b
ReplyDelete#1 - simple and doesn't require too much explanation
ReplyDeleteI like 3b the best! I think the others are cool but not as specific. 3b is one I would definitely wear.
ReplyDeleteWhile I dig the joke references, I think #1 has an understated classic design. I think it would also be in keeping with the Bridge 4 members: pride not arrogance. Also will you make this in a feminine cut? My wife wants one.
ReplyDeleteI prefer #1, it's nerdy, but you'd have to be a nerd to know it. I don't want to have to explain to people about horn eater stew "You have to read a thousand page book to get it".
ReplyDeleteShirt number one. Very obscure reference and those in the know will geek out.
ReplyDelete#1. It's pretty simple, but it even as a devout fan, it took me a minute to figure out what was meant by 'Bridge 4'. Then I got it, and I thought I must have it!
ReplyDelete2 is hilariously harsh though. I'd rather wear 3b though.
ReplyDeleteNumber one. And yes, lady's cuts would indeed be wonderful. :)
ReplyDelete3A with 3B the preferred alternative.
ReplyDelete#1 It is the one I would wear.
ReplyDelete#2 is hilarious, but I'd be more likely to buy and wear 3B. My vote's for 3B!
ReplyDelete1 is great for the simplicity and nice that it is not a black shirt but
ReplyDeleteI like 3b the best, it is funny and has just enough intrique to it that someone who doesn't know what the shirt is for might ask about it. Which in a way should be the main point for the shirts, to make more people read the books.
3B is unbeatable.
ReplyDeleteI am both sad and elated that it took me a few seconds to get the "wearing your mom" reference. Sad because I had clearly forgotten parts of one of my all-time-favourite books, but ecstatic because that means it's time for a re-read!
ReplyDeleteWhen I got it, I laughed loud enough to earn some French and German curses from my house-mates, so I think I will have to put my vote in for Shirt #2!
3B would be my choice.
ReplyDelete3B is a win, hands down... It captures the true essence of being a Bridgeman...
ReplyDeletefor me, 3B for sure
ReplyDeleteI'll buy 3B the moment you're ready to ship it!
ReplyDeleteIf you make women sizes, I'll probably need another one for the missus.
It's genius.
Good illustration, good joke.
Even good color, but you can think of making it in a different one for ladies.
3B!!! Thats the coolest out of all 3! But I will take away the word This and let it reads like
ReplyDeleteand all i got was horneater soup
Best thing: #3B, with #2 a very close second!!!
ReplyDeleteI really love #1 and #3b. But, if I have to choose one then it would be...
ReplyDelete#1
Like others have said before, it is simple yet effective.
I like #2. 1 seems too obscure, and if I'm going to have to explain the shirt I'm wearing, I want it to be funny. As others have said, 2 is the best joke.
ReplyDeleteDesign #1 for simplicity. The others are nice, but #1 will have the widest appeal, and complement more other items of clothing.
ReplyDelete3A is by far the best
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes with 3B. I like that it's just a little more specific than "soup".
ReplyDelete3B
ReplyDelete3B!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many 3B, but I vote for #1. That makes me feel like being one of Bridge 4!
ReplyDelete3B
ReplyDeleteEither #1 or #2. #1 for it's beautiful simplicity, and #2 because it looks badass.
ReplyDelete3B
ReplyDelete3a gets my vote because i sent this very idea, a tourist type T that says "i survived bridge 4", to brandon sanderson via email a while back. im sure im not the only one who thought of it but either way im psyched to see it! i have to be honest and say that i like #1 pretty well but 3a gets my my vote! B is good too but A would be easier to explain to the layman.
ReplyDeleteI would go with 3B, thought 1 strikes my fance more, simply because a clever inside joke goes further than an less than distinctive number 4. Though brilliant work on all three ½ designs!
ReplyDelete#1. It's elegant.
ReplyDeleteI choose 1. Simple is good.
ReplyDeleteI vote for #1
ReplyDeleteI vote #1 for simplicity, though #3B was hilarious. If I were to buy one it would have to be #1 though, it's simple, clean and means that Those who compliment my shirt will have read the book and those that ask about Bridge 4 can be introduced.
ReplyDeleteNumber 4 - no doubt about it!
ReplyDeleteMy choice is 3B. I love how it plays off of the famous "all I got was this lousy t-shirt" line, and I feel it flows better than A.
ReplyDelete3A - love the cleverness of it
ReplyDelete3B.
ReplyDelete1) is the most excellent.
ReplyDeleteI like #1. It's simple but effective. I don't find the joke in #2 to be in good taste and doesn't really fit the book either. 3A&B are both good but I prefer the simplicity of 1.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 for the simplicity.
ReplyDeleteThough I would totally be happy with 3A as well.
Definitely #3B! Gotta get this for my brother's birthday.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see #1, it's simple and clean.
ReplyDeleteThe other designs are jokey which I like, but 2 is jokey in a potentially offensive way if someone just reads the shirt. 3A/B are fine, but I'm not a huge fan of back of the shirt punch lines because you then invariably have to turn around to explain the rest of the joke to someone who've only seen one side.
My second option would be 3A because while more work to explain than 1 or 2, it's you don't have to explain the Horneater part of 3B :)
3A gets my vote, with 3B a close second.
ReplyDeleteI like 3A or 1. I think the shirts would do better with a bridge and the saying 'F it I run at the front with bridge 4' or something along those lines
ReplyDeleteWhile 3A & 3B look cool... Bridge runners do not use shields. But I suppose Kaladin was using a shield when he was drawing attention away from the bridge/crew.
ReplyDeleteI would get 3a or B but prefer 3A.
ReplyDeleteOk that is what happens when you haven't set up your blogger profile before commenting. This was me.
Delete#1! Keep it simple.
ReplyDeleteThree B is funny, but I think that I actually like 3A better (and it's my favorite out of the three) Though second is the first one. It just looks awesome :D
ReplyDelete#2 Definitely. With 3A a close second. I'd wear any of them.
ReplyDelete#1 - nice and simple!
ReplyDelete#2 for sure!
ReplyDelete#1 then 3b. These are awesome. Good work.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tom K. #1 and then 3b.
ReplyDelete3A
ReplyDeleteNumber 1.
ReplyDeleteI like the first one. Although I'm still laughing at #2.
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 for sure. Some say it's too obscure but honestly - are people going to "get" the others. I really like the front of 3 but i would work on something different for the back, maybe one without anything on the back. OR a small "Bridge 4" on the front upper left breast region in smaller letters on and on the back, have the image from the front of #3 and "I survived" below it. i actually like that idea the best
ReplyDelete#1 and #3B get my vote too :)
ReplyDeleteI have to go with #3A, it's tacky yet adorable.
ReplyDelete#2 for sure!
ReplyDelete3a definately
ReplyDeleteI also like #1 -- the other ones are a bit tacky (though extremely funny, especially #2!) whereas #1 is a nice reference for anyone who's read the book, while not going overboard.
ReplyDelete3B is definitely my favorite, with 3A coming in at a close second. Great job on the designs!
ReplyDelete
