Yes this month's contest is later than usual. But that's because I wanted to make sure to have the new Alloy of Law t-shirt ready to give away and of course to order. It seriously rocks! I'm so happy with how well these shirts turned out. The details are fabulous and I guarantee you want one. Especially since I'm going to give this shirt free shipping for the next two weeks. No coupon code required! So, order yours asap!
We will be at the midnight release party of Alloy of Law giving away shirts. Isaac did the maps again so he will also be there signing with Brandon. Hope to see lots of people there!
Contest details: What character from Brandon's worlds would make the coolest costume? And for kicks, tell me what you're dressing up as (if you are). Three winners will be picked randomly on Halloween to win whatever shirt you want. What a great treat! I'm looking forward to the comments... we love to read them!!

Right now I'm thinking that Waxillium would be the funnest one to dress up as. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for Halloween, but I need to figure out soon!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be awesome to be a parshendi. The paint alone would be neat but add in the armor and weapons. Defiantly unique. For Halloween I am going as Robin Sena from Witch Hunter Robin.
ReplyDeleteI think Vin would be fun, though I think it's just because I want a Mistcloak. I'm going as a pirate with my daughter for Halloween.
ReplyDeletei think that Vin would be the best- it would be really fun to make a mistcloak =) i'll be dressing up as a giraffe this year!
ReplyDeleteCome on. There's no competing with dressing as a kandra. TenSoon is probably the best, particularly if you can manage to change between wolfhound and "natural" appearance. Otherwise, dressing as one of the early-generation kandra with crystal bones would be impressive.
ReplyDeleteHello, Inquisitor-style Marsh would be the best. People would be in awe even if they'd never read the books. That would be wicked.
ReplyDeleteThis year, depending on the party, I'm either 1/2 of a tree costume or a zombie. :D
Koloss-blooded human from Alloy of Law.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool to be Siri or Vivenna with the changing hair color and elaborate dresses. That would be amazing. It would be awesome to have a talking sword too. ;P I think I'm going to be an Aes Sedai for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteAllomancer Jak
ReplyDelete@staulcub
ReplyDeleteThe coolest costume would definitely be a full Shard-armored Shard-Bearer. I'll be going as the guy from the t-shirt, with a revolver and trench coat. I just hope someone'll get it!
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome to do a Kelsier costume. I mean who wouldn't want to be the Survivor of Hathsin? And then you could whip your friends up into a rebellion against the powers that be. It would be awesome. And all the comments about how amazing mistcloaks are.
ReplyDeleteFor this Hallow's Eve though, I'm being Spock.
A parshendi would be cool, but anyone with shardplate and blade like Dalinar or Adolin would just be totally fun!
ReplyDeleteThis year I am going as a racoon.
I wanted to write a kandra but Ed's got it already... I got it! I'd go as an Elantrian if I celebrated Halloween!
ReplyDeleteSteel Inquisitor
ReplyDeleteMistborn costume of course, since the entire point of a mist-cloak is to look awesome.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I'm going to be a mistborn for Halloween, and it looks amazing so far :D!
Sazed sounds like a good choice. It might be a bit tough to work out all the parts, but it would look great if done right.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to go with Dalinar, since I got a couple of characters in different games named after him.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you can include the WoT as well, I'd figure Fades would be very creepy. They just give of that unknown evil vibe. Would be awesome to dress as Rand al'Thor as well, having an intricate tattoo, dressing royally, but missing one hand.
An Inquisitor would be just plain badass as well, you'll have a lot of heads turning your way.
But yea, in terms of real scary, go for Inquisitor, Fade for creepy, Rand for casual going (though missing that hand is annoying) and Dalinar for showing off.
It's a toss-up between a sharbearer and a mistborn. Mistborn is certainly easier to produce for Halloween :-)
ReplyDeleteThe best costume would be a chull, I wish I had the skill to make that. I will be a ghost this Saturday.
ReplyDeleteThe coolest character costume would have to be Vin. Maybe in a fantastic gown or mist cloak. Either way it would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI think it would haveto be SARENE, from Elantris
ReplyDeleteTotally Hrathen from Elantris.
ReplyDelete"...until they saw Hrathen, his blood cloak billowing behind him and his exaggerated armor cut with sharp angles and harsh lines. Then they fell silent, greetings withering, their eyes following Hrathen until he passed. Such was as it should be." --Elantris, ch. 3.
I would love to see a blacksmith create a full shard set - Shardplate, a Shardblade, and a Half Shard (for kicks). I don't have the $$ for such a venture, but it would rock.
ReplyDeleteIf I dress up for Halloween it'll be as a Highlander. I have recreation of the sword from the movie and wool kilt I wear a few times a year.
I like Kelsier. He's intimidating.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a Koloss from Mistborn(Not Warbreaker prime). Big flabby layers of blue skin ripping around the bloodshot eyes. Haha, heck I might just do that this year :)
ReplyDeleteA midway Elantrian that has become part of the Hoed.
ReplyDeleteMy mantra would be, "Brains...brains...where are the brains...brains..."
Sazed from the Mistborn series. I just have a fascination for monk-like characters.
ReplyDeleteI'm dressing up as Generation 1 Ash from Pokemon!
siri or vin!
ReplyDeletei would have to say Dalanar in full Shardplate, it would be so awesome, and im not dressing up for Halloween
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Steel Inquisitor Marsh. Come on, you see a zombie- okay, but a guy with giant spikes through each of his eyes? Just awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm going as an "Edward" from twilight. I'm planning on following all the girls around just staring at them and breathing intensely. Apparently that's romantic. /sarcasm
The best costume would be an inquistor, the ones with extra hemalurgy spikes. I'm going as the cowboy from cowboys and aliens.
ReplyDeleteTough choice between an inquisitor and Vin (love the cloak!)
ReplyDeleteA chasmfiend would be a fantastic costume, if the logistics weren't so tough. But I'm going as a good old zombie.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord Ruler- handsome and young one minute, wizened old man the next. And it would be pretty cool if I could store up some youth to use later on.
ReplyDeleteJasnah Kholin! With her soul caster and pretty black hair! My costume this year is an elastic headband with "BOO" printed on it. :)
ReplyDeleteAn early generation Kandra would be awesome if it was done right!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a Dalinar in full shardplate with shardblade. As for me, this year, I'm going as Zombie Jesus. My wife, incidentally, is wearing a mistcloak.
ReplyDeleteWow, I would have to say it is a lockout... Between a Shardbearer, Steel Inquisitor, or a Mistborn. All are pretty awesome in their own rights, but would look amazing if the costumes are done right.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm going trick or treating with the kids as a red and black evil jester and then to a party as Conan the Barbarian.. I eat it!! LMAO...
My husband and I always dress up together in a theme, so our choice is Human (the Koloss) and Vin. :)
ReplyDeleteThis year we are going as zombies. Awesome zombies. :)
I agree with going as Vin and I want a Mistcloak too! But this year, I'm going as "Maureen", Maxine's long-lost sister.
ReplyDelete"Somtimes the best thing about my job is that my chair spins."
An Inquisitor would be the most impressive costume, but Sazed or Vin would be more practical.
ReplyDeleteI am going as the Wolf disguised as Red Riding Hood's grandmother.
Coolest costume? Shardplate, I think. Maybe someday...
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm going as Sarene when she's in Elantris, where she describes herself as looking like an insane rainbow...come on, who wouldn't want to dress as a psychedelic zombie?
Last year for Halloween I was a Steel Inquisitor, which was cool, though I am not the best person to wear that costume. I have dressed as Vin for cons but not for halloween.
I love red and black combinations of color so a Parshendi Warrior would be a cool costume. And i don't know what i am wearing yet.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to say: Steel Inquisitor...
ReplyDeletebut since I'm a girl, I'll go with: Blushweaver
No Halloween in Poland, though :/
I think getting to dress up as a Koloss would be wonderfully fun. More for the full body paint than the lack of cold on the near freezing Oregon Halloween night. I'm actually having to fly out of town this coming weekend so I won't get to dress up as anything, but next year I will look at having a costume party and dressing up as someone from Brandon's worlds.
ReplyDeleteSzeth-son-son-Vallano...end of discussion. ;)
ReplyDeleteKelsier, Vin (for the wife), an Inquisitor, or Breeze. Lots of fun with any of those.
ReplyDeleteSteel inquisitor. I'm being batgirl this year.
ReplyDeleteSazed would be neat, but then I'd have to shave my head.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure what to dress up as for a Halloween party, but now I'm considering making a mistcloak. Thanks for the idea.
A kandra, mid-transformation. I just think it would be cool to show their true nature as well as their ability to transform.
ReplyDeletean inquisitor would be good but i think that it might be a little niche instead go as a reanimated corpse from warbraker. I think it might be more recognizable.
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be awesome to dress up as a parshendi from the Way of Kings! I could use red and black body paint, make my own armor out of wood, put a ton of fake joules in my hair and chant like a crazy person!
ReplyDeleteThis year I am dressing up as Jereth the Goblin King (David Bowie) from the 1980's Jim Henson film the Labyrinth.
I'll be a zombie from the hit game Plants vs Zombies and i think Nightblood would be a pretty cool costume :^]
ReplyDeleteSzeth, in his iconic white outfit, would make a FANTASTIC costume. Bonus points for the Shardblade.
ReplyDeleteI would be an awakened D'Denir statue / Kalads Phantom. Painted like stone with a weapon, but dressed in bright jarring colors.
ReplyDeleteFor halloween, I'm going to dress like an army soldier. Of course, I do that every day, so it won't be too fun...
Adonalsium. Or more seriously, post-beard Kaladin because he's a great guy. The clothes should be fairly easy, but I'd have to wear a wig for the dark, longish curly hair. Not to mention I'm Lighteyes. Well, åt least we're both bipolar - that's how I interpret his character. This year I'm going as a generic zombie. Perhaps wearing a pink unicorn t-shirt if I can find one.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to dress up as Siri from Warbreaker.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm an Accepted of Tar Valon, in the white dress with seven stripes.
I full shard armor costume would be so epic. I'm female, so I would have to go with Siri or Vivienna from Warbreaker...the concept of the color changing hair would easily transfer to a costume!
ReplyDeleteTensoon! Or Sazed. They are two of my favorite characters, so it would HAVE to be them!
ReplyDeleteI prefer a full Shardplate but the arm-parts of the plate should be replaced with Feruchemical armbands :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard to beat a set of Shardlate for overall effect but I would want a Mistcloak just for me to use in general. I am not planning on dressing as any of Brandon's characters for Halloween but I did carve my pumpkin in the shape of one of the allomatic metal symbols.
ReplyDeleteI think that it would be awesome to dress up in a Mistborn cloak. But in use it might not be as impressive without the mists.
ReplyDeleteI had been planning as dressing up with my friends as the monks from Monty-Python and the Holy Grail that go around and hit themselves but we weren't able to find enough people for full effect so perhaps next year.
Shallan. All the way. No contest. Seriously. With her flaming hair curiosity, and her covered safehand. Traversing into Shadesmar...
ReplyDeleteSo I reeeallly wanted to be Vin, but I couldn't figure out to make that mistcloak. So I'm just Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz
I'm vin's height, so, i really want to make myself a mistcloak. now i've just got to figure out how to work the effects... some dry ice is a good start, perhaps lots of bungees... :)
ReplyDeleteSupposing any character's costume would be reasonable to make look effective, it would be a difficult choice between Szeth son-son Vallano, Truthless of Shinovar and Kelsier. I probably would pick Kelsier (or just a general mistborn).
ReplyDeleteAs it is, I'm very bad at actually coming up with costumes to wear, so I will instead wear a sign saying "Error 404: This Hallowe'en costume cannot be found."
I would want to dress up as Syl, Kaladin's spren. It would be a challenge to figure out a white and shiny costume to give a translucent effect. At the same time like a mini storm. Oh, blue flickering LEDs. Hmmm....
ReplyDeleteThis year, for my costume I made up my own 1950's superhero: Wrench Woman. I am going to wear my combat boots, a cape and Steampunk goggles I made. Also out of cardboard and black duct tape I made a "sash" and taped lots of wrenches to it. So much fun!
I think good costumes would be Szeth, wearing all whites (obviously), blade optional. Axies the Collector, with research notes on different spren scrawled all over your skin could also be cool.
ReplyDeleteNaturally Inquisitor Marsh, a Shardbearer or a Symbolhead would be awesome to see, but I think those two are ones that are a bit more feasible while still doing something cool.
I don't have a costume of my own, as I'm working through Halloween =(
